Leave it to Spike Jonze to direct a seriously odd short starring Kanye West with some cameos from musician Fonzworth Bentley and skateboarder Mike Carroll. What starts out as simply a story of Kanye in a drunken stupor, ends in an unpredictable, surreal climax that is trademark Spike Jonze.
CONTENT WARNING: this short contains some strong language, and a scene with mild sexual content.
For those of us who choose not to take LSD this Saturday, I am told that Mike Peter Reed’s “20015” is a good substitute. “20015” is hypnotic, colorful, and energetic. It presents a strong intensity that slowly builds throughout.
Inspired by a Kobel Abe novel, “The Box Man” is a great example of Nirvan Mullick’s keen attention to detail. The beautifully hand-crafted scenery and smooth frame rate both serve as evidence of the excruciating amount of time he sacrificed for this short.
Mullick is currently working on an ambitious project called The 1 Second Film. His goal for this film is to generate one million dollars, and donate all profits to the “Global Fund for Women”. For more information visit The 1 Second Film homepage.

The classic horror film Child’s Play meets David Lynch’s Eraserhead in this creepy seven-minute short directed by Thomas Lee Rutter. “A Child’s Toy” blends surrealism with an ambient composition to create a product that is nothing short of terrifying.
The band Xiu Xiu (named after the award-winning Chinese film, Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl) is anything but conventional, so it’s only fitting that the strange and innovative Cam Archer should direct the cinematography for their song, “The Fox and the Rabbit”. Instruments, lyrics, imagery: everything comes together in this short to create an experience you won’t take lightly. “When the fox hears the rabbit cry, he comes running… but not to help.”
Celebrating the cinematically surreal, bizarre, cult, oddball, fantastique, strange, psychedelic, and the just plain WEIRD!
