Discussed in this episode:

Oriental Snatch at Wefunder – Invest in the upcoming film. (WARNING: Film investing is highly speculative and results are not guaranteed. Never invest more than you are willing to lose.)

Chainsaws Were Singing (2024): Read Giles Edwards’ review. The homemade Estonian chainsaw musical was released on Blu-ray this week, although at the time of release it was listed as out-of-stock. Also available on VOD.  Check availability of Chainsaws Were Singing Blu-ray.

“The Ninja Trilogy”: Three 80s ninja movies from Canon Films, all starring Sho Kosugi. The general consensus is that series starts out cheap and boring, but gets worse/more entertainingly absurd with each sequel, climaxing with the “whacked out experience” (Commercial Appeal) of the ninja possession cheesefest Ninja III: The Domination. In a new 4K UHD and Blu-ray combo, with each film also sold separately. Buy “The Ninja Trilogy”.

“Return to Reason: Four Films by Man Ray”: Four experimental films from the 1920s from Surrealist Man Ray, given a new ambient soundtrack by Sqürl (a band composed of and Carter Logan). The Criterion Collection releases it with lots of Sqürl-centered extras. Buy “Return to Reason: Four Films by Man Ray.”

“Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: The Complete Limited Series”: Read Shane Wilson’s review. This release has been pushed back to March 2026, when we may know more (and mention it again). In the meantime, catch this animated comic meta-spin on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on Netflix. Pre-order “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: The Complete Limited Series.”

Under the Skin (2013) Symphonic screening: Read the Canonically Weird review! A special screening of the weird -led feature about a predatory female alien prowling Scotland, as part of a series of A24 films being screened at the United Theater Los Angeles with live orchestral accompaniment. February 26, 2026, but tickets are on sale now.

WHAT’S IN THE PIPELINE:

No guest scheduled for next week’s Pod 366 (but of course, there was no guest scheduled for last week’s Pod 366, but one showed up anyway). At any rate, Giles and Greg will be back to discuss the week’s news and new releases. In written content, learn if Enar Clarke loved the She Loved Blossoms More (2024), Shane Wilson consults The Magus (1968), and Gregory J. Smalley observes A.J. Goes to the Dog Park (2025). Onward and weirdward!
