I Love Boosters (2026): Early reviews suggest Boots Riley‘s shoplifter-centered sophomore feature is, indeed, weird. Possibly the buzziesy titles debuting at SWSX, it opened the festival and did not disappoint. The I Love Boosters official site is not yet live, but the movie is scheduled for a May 22 theatrical release.
Phenomena (2026): A less buzzy SWSX title, this humble Australian home science experiment documentary grandiosely bills itself as “a Psychedelic Odyssey Into the Fabric of the Universe.” With stunning visuals and a musical score to match, it seems like a homespun version of a Godfrey Reggio -atsi spectacle. Return to Silent Hill (2026): Read Gregory J. Smalley’s review. The disappointing, but rather weird, video-game adaptation hits physical media this week. Buy Return to Silent Hill.
Touch Me (2025): Ejected from their apartments, two roommates find shelter with a mysterious man whose touch is literally addictive. In limited release from Yellow Veil, it’s getting great reviews, though it may be more oddball/eccentric than full-on weird. Touch Me official site.
