The disappearance of Kast.tv and the Tubi library from our streaming options means that, unless/until a free replacement is found, we can only stream movies from subscription sites Netflix, Amazon Prime, or, (technically) Hulu for our watch parties.
Attendance was similar between our evening and afternoon sessions, so my instinct for the future is to have one watch party a month in the evening, and a second one later in the month in the afternoon.
If you’d like to attend our watch party, then the important thing is to RSVP in the comments, where you can make a screening suggestion, or just say you plan to be there. When making your nomination, simply comment with “I think we should watch Weird Movie on Netflix” or “How about Weird Movie 2: Electric Boogaloo on Prime?” You can also pitch in as to whether you prefer the afternoon or evening time slot.
When the party is set to begin we’ll announce it in three places:
- On this site (if you’ve signed up for regular email alerts via the sidebar you’ll also get a notice that way)
- On our Facebook page
- On Twitter
Make your nominations and/or RSVP in the comments below.
Also, since we did not have the opportunity to host an afternoon party, that option is still open. And since we didn’t have a party last week, we could schedule one for next week.
Add your input in the comments, please.
It is super-hard to find appropriate weird movies streaming on Netflix or Prime compared to this time last year, but I did see Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway on Prime. So I suggest we watch it the evening of June 11.
Motorama on Amazon
Anything with Nicolas Cage gets my backing.
Failing such a nomination, I’ll keep an eye on the suggestions.
Should be available, though.
I will mention that “The Land of Cards” [Tasher Desh] by Qaushiq Mukherjee, one of Niels Matthijs’ off-the-radar weird films is on Netflix, but, that being said, “Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway” is awesome and anyone who hasn’t seen it, really should.
“A royal prince arrives on an island of fascist rule and inspires a rebellion among its women in this hallucinogenic adaptation of a classic play.”
Well, this has my vote at least until another nomination trundles in. (I am saying this having seen “JSYtWttH” three or four times already.)
Late RSVP, as usual
