Abigail Harm: A lonely middle-aged woman discovers a male companion out of a fairy tale: so long as she keeps his robe, he will never leave her. Starring Amanda Plummer and garnering multiple comparisons to the work of Terrence Malick. Opening in NYC, future venues uncertain. Abigail Harm official site.
IN DEVELOPMENT:
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky (2014?): A transcendental stoner fairy rock musical, set in the Hoh Rainforest. Word on the street is it will include scenes of people jumping out of trees. This project has already met its Kickstarter target, so it better get done. They should be getting back from the rainforest as we speak. For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky at Kickstarter.
NEW ON DVD:
The Painting (2011): The fully-colored figures living inside a painting enslave those who are merely sketched in pencil; some half completed figures go searching for the Painter to find answers as to why their world was left incomplete. This animated parable comes from Belgium. Buy The Painting.
Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013): Three grindhouse-style black comedy vignettes revolving around a pawn shop involving meth addicts, Elvis impersonators, and sex slaves. Look at some of the cast—Brendan Fraser, Elijah Wood, Matt Dillon, Vincent D’Onofrio—and explain to us how this movie did not get more than a token theatrical release. Buy Pawn Shop Chronicles.
“Sapphire & Steel: The Complete Series” (1979-1982): Interdimensional beings pose as humans to solve metaphysical mysteries in this cult British sci-fi series that attempted to ride Dr. Who’s coattails (with maybe a dash of “The Prisoner” thrown in there). The series ran for thirty-four episodes, through six serial-style adventures of four to eight installments each. Buy “Sapphire & Steel: The Complete Series”.
