“The Duke Mitchell Collection”: Both of actor/director/lounge singer Duke Mitchell’s oddball gangster opuses—Massacre Mafia Style and Gone With the Pope–in a single edition from Grindhouse Releasing. Fantasy of the Deer Warrior (1961): Deer Warrior fights against Elk for the hand of Miss Deer, while wolves and foxes conspire against the peaceful woodland creatures. This Taiwanese fable, featuring actors dressed as animals, certainly looks like an oddity. Buy Fantasy of the Deer Warrior.
I Live Here Now (2025): Read Giles Edwards’ Apocrypha Candidate review. Julie (daughter of Al) Pacino’s directorial debut is a female-forward feature about a stressed young actress retreating to a surreal hotel. Now on Blu-ray, it’s also currently free on Amazon Prime. Buy I Live Here Now.
Tiki Tiki (1971): A group of (animated) monkeys make a (live action) movie (actually an old Soviet science fiction film) in this oddity from the director of Heavy Metal.
