First off, your weekly update on the progress of the Weirdcademy Award voting. Update: nothing has changed since last week. The leaders are still The Forbidden Room for Weirdest Movie, Pit Bukowski in Der Samurai for Weirdest Actor, Duke of Burgundy‘s Chiara D’Anna as Weirdest Actress, and Forbidden Room’s “The Final Derriere” as Weirdest Scene. The Weirdest Short competition remains a tight contest between leader “Goodbye” and challenger “Hugh the Hunter.” Of course, with two weeks to go all this can change—and you can change it! Vote in the features contest, and/or for weirdest short.
Speaking of awards, next week G. Smalley will take a look at a nominee in that “other” awards ceremony, the Oscars, with ‘s short “World of Tomorrow” (definitely the weirdest thing in play at the Academy Awards this year). Next up he’ll check out ‘s surreal 1967 World War II satire How I Won the War. And be sure to brush up on your “Hamlet,” because Giles Edwards will be exploring Tom Stoppard’s dense postmodern epic Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead after that. Finally, Alfred Eaker plugs one of the gaps in our Guy Maddin coverage by giving you the skinny on Guy’s bloodsucker ballet Dracula: Pages from a Virgin’s Diary.
Now it’s time for our weekly survey of the weirdest search terms that brought people to the site, a featurette we like to call “Weirdest Search Terms of the Week.” We’ll start out with something from the perverts, the most dependable demographic for delivering jaw-dropping search terms. This week, these intrepid searchers came here looking for “amateur bimbo wives and daughters videos swimming” and, on an even stranger note, “pig.clif.woman.sex.” Still, our official Weirdest Search Term of the Week is not erotic, but rather the bizarre “the move the mouth gril gets lickiofide man drinks hear insides.” We think we can actually translate this: “the movie the mouth girl gets liquefied man drinks her insides.” Proper spelling doesn’t make it any less weird, but suggests that maybe it is meant to be weirdly erotic, after all.
