Kickstarter is an exciting new idea for funding independent movies or other art projects. The concept is that the artist describes his or heridea, and people pledge money for it to be completed. No donor is required to make good on the pledge unless the project reaches its target goal.
Our own Alfred Eaker has placed his new partially completed documentary, “Thunder Sky,” on kickstarter. “Thunder Sky” tells the tale of the possibly autistic outsider artist Raymond Thunder-sky, who was equally obsessed with clowns and construction workers, and used to dress in a hardhat and a clown collar while wandering through downtown Cincinnati looking for construction sites to sketch.
At the time of this writing there’s only 7 days left to raise $4900 more dollars to complete the film. (For a mere $15 pledge you can get a thank you in the film credits; a $50 pledge gets you and autographed DVD).
You can see the trailer on the kickstarter.com website. We hope you’ll consider supporting the documentary.

This project really interested me. It would’ve been a delightfully off-beat take on Beautiful Losers. Unfortunately, I was (and am still) between jobs, and couldn’t get myself to pledge anything while only 2% of the film was funded. Darn my pessimism.
I know the feeling Cameron. We also put that on Indie GoGo. I will submit that. Regardless, we have about 60 percent shot and I am stubbornly optimistic. We will finish it. And you are right, it is a delightfully off-beat look at the beautiful losers. The promo doesn’t really touch it yet. One of the highlights, for me, is Antonio Adams being interviewed in his superhero get up , the Kingdom Master, whose mission is to turn the negative into positive. Also, seeing Antonio’s paintings of Lady Gaga and Big Bird kicking Osama Ben Laden’s butt, along with his kitty cat sculptures of murdered children who get to finally grow up in his sculptures. Now that is optimism.
