The movie certainly gives you that "Terry Gilliam" feel, and it's worth seeing for the colorful dream sequences (the stilt walking sequence is cool). Some kind of magic was missing, however, that would take it over the top. I wasn't really inspired by the main characters, and couldn't summon a whole lot of affection for old Dr. Parnassus. A would rather grab a beer with Waits' sly and affable Prince of Darkness(but aren't Devils always more interesting than angels, even flawed ones?) More effective humor would have gone a long way, too. Still, I may want to give it another look when it comes out on DVD.
